[Sometime after cleaning up and tending to any injuries, Kashuu will go looking for Nogiku. He was already fairly certain Danny was the killer even before Sunday, and as soon as Clarte was saved, he had a feeling they would lose him - but he understood Nogiku's gesture, what she meant in her words.
They're all hurting, and ending the life of what had been Danny doesn't really soothe it. But at the very least, he's not as mired in his fury as he had been a day before.
Whenever he spots Nogiku, he'll make his way over, hands folded behind his back.]
[As usual, she's halfway through a cigarette when he finds her. It takes her a second to respond, quietly exhaling smoke before she looks his way, tiredly.]
I don't know that I should be thanked for it.
[Considering a child sure did die. It's not like she regrets getting that confirmation for what they both suspected, but— she didn't want him to die for it, either. And then, even his death hasn't allowed her to shake off her anger.
Well... it is what it is.]
Are you okay, Kiyomitsu-san? I couldn't keep my eyes on the battle for as long as I would've liked.
You helped put people's minds at ease. Someone's already mentioned it.
[Knowing that their killer was confirmed - it was important, and it's not like Nogiku's actions condemned him. Despite what some people had feared, Kashuu wouldn't have raised his blade against Danny before he refracted, though perhaps not for the softest of reasons.
He'll move over to stand nearby though, also just exuding Tired Vibes. His anger is swift and explosive; it rolls in like a wall of fire, scorches everything, and leaves quickly after it consumes itself. He can focus on pressing forward now.]
--It's a good thing you didn't. [BARFING COLORS... NOT FUN.] But yeah, I am. We're used to fighting things kind of like that where we come from, so.
[They can tiredly vibe together. Out of politeness, she makes sure to turn her head away whenever she takes a drag. Emotional hanahaki is bad enough; he doesn't need her secondhand smoke on top of it.]
... Is that so? [A gentle furrow of her eyebrows, still a little bothered by the Child Death that came on the heels of almost losing Clarte, but she hums.] A long time ago, Yasusada-san said you were part of the Shinsengumi, and that you now live in a citadel. Fighting creatures like that... Is it part of the duties you performed later?
[She is truly a good soul, a class A smoker. Kashuu is grateful for it, especially since his throat has been thoroughly wrecked by both eternal hanahaki of rage and also color barf. She also continues to be very valid.]
...Yeah, basically. [The days when that seemed like Top Secret Information that he was not willing to even remotely discuss seem like they're a thousand years away, wow!] It's our duty to protect history. We make sure that events proceed as they're supposed to. Our enemies - the Time Retrograde Army - are always hopping back into the past to try messing stuff up... They're tsukumogami, too, but a person looking at 'em would probably call 'em monsters.
[They aren't human-shaped like he and his comrades. Humanoid, in some cases, but phew. Even though they're the same, they're very different.]

...Thanks, Nogiku.
